Tennis Clubs

Birds eye view of typical tennis club

Clubs are the heartbeat of tennis in this country.  Many have long histories of serving their communities, providing a focal point for social tennis and competitive matches, as well as a place to relax with friends.

Some are blessed with new or recently refurbished facilities, some are not.  Some have thriving tennis programmes, some find it harder to deliver tennis across all ages and abilities.  Each tennis club is unique, defined by its membership and its local environment.

For players

A tennis club is one of the oldest and best ways to improve your game, and enjoy competing against other players. Many of the Premier Tennis coaches and staff team have grown up playing regularly at their local club, and discovered a passion and love for the sport that has continued into later life.

We work with tennis clubs around the UK to keep improving the quality of their coaching and variety of services they offer. Use the sections further below to read about some of the clubs we work with, and why not sign up for the next open day?

For clubs - Premier Tennis club services

At Premier Tennis, our goal is to serve tennis clubs – whatever their resources – by raising the bar in the delivery of their tennis programmes. In order to meet the ever-changing needs of club members, we offer a managed solution designed to improve multiple aspects of club services and member outreach.

Read the 'Premier Tennis Club Services' section below to see the full range of services we could offer your club.

Merrow LTC

The home of Premier Tennis in Guildford.

Merrow LTC was founded in 1923 in Guildford by the North Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It has had a steadily growing membership since then, with every member adding to the Club's history.

Now there are 6 high-quality all-weather courts, c. 300 members and a thriving, competitive community from Guildford and surrounding towns. Their goal is to encourage, facilitate and improve the playing of tennis in Guildford, helping members of all ages and stages discover the life-long benefits of tennis.

The Club Committee is made up of enthusiasts who are keen tennis players themselves, and have a passion for helping the club reach its potential. The committee meet regularly, and each member is a volunteer.

The facilities at Merrow LTC also include an equipped Club House with changing rooms, showers, kitchen, bar, terrace, TV, IPod dock and speakers, WiFi, ball machine, tennis balls, floodlighting and car parks.

Visit the Merrow LTC website for coaching schedules and court booking

Raynes Park Residents LTC

Raynes Park Residents’ Lawn Tennis Club is a small, friendly club that prides itself on a family atmosphere and quality courts.

All ages and standards of play are welcome, with a variety of sessions available. Although the club name is “Raynes Park Residents’ Lawn Tennis Club”, you do not need to be resident in Raynes Park to join. An elected committee runs the club, and elections are held every year at the AGM during March.

Regular coaching sessions are available for all players, and there are various club sessions throughout the week. During Club sessions, a “peg” system is used to encourage players to mix in, testing themselves against opponents with different styles. All prospective Senior members are invited to try out one of our Club Sessions before deciding to join.

Tennis is played throughout the year, and there are five macadam hard courts available, which have excellent drainage. Courts 4 and 5 have floodlighting installed.

RPRLTC is a very active club, holding winter and summer club tournaments for singles, doubles and mixed doubles. The club currently has 3 men’s, one ladies’ and 1 mixed team playing in the winter and summer leagues. Friendly matches are occasionally arranged with other local clubs in order for the club members to experience the fun of playing unknown opponents.

Social events are always encouraged, and the committee loves to hear ideas for social events. All members are encouraged to contribute any ideas on this or other club matters.
